John Damberg Latin Jazz Quartet-Live in Homer, AK at Wasabi’s restaurant

The John Damberg Latin Jazz Quartet will be featured at the Pratt Museum’s 2015 Ritz Event, Havana Nights! Ritz at the Copacabana from 6:30 p.m.-11:00 on Saturday November 7, 2015 at Wasabi’s Restaurant in beautiful Homer, AK. Wasabi’s is located at 59217 East End Rd, Homer, AK 99603. This is the Pratt Museum’s annual fund raiser party which includes dinner, music, a silent auction, music by the John Damberg Latin Jazz Quartet for listening and dancing.

This promises to be a one of a kind evening with the band members blending & mixing their musical artistry creating exotic melodies over hot Latin Rhythmic grooves including Songo, Samba, Mambo, Cha Cha, Cha, Bomba, Bossa Nova, Baion, Afro-Cuban 6/8. The John Damberg Latin Jazz Quintet will be featured in the Wednesday April 2, 2014 UAA Jazz Week Benefit Concert from 7:30 pm. to 9:30 p.m. at the UAA Fine Arts Building Recital Hall. The Quintet will perform an exciting mix of Originals, Brazilian, Afro-Cuban, and Trinidadian music for your enjoyment!

The John Damberg Latin Jazz Quintet will present a delightful evening of Brazilian, Afro-Cuban, & Original songs from 7-9 p.m. on Saturday February 15, 2014 at Trinity Presbyterian Church, located at 12310 Lorraine St. In Anchorage, AK, 99516.  Admission is $15 for adults, $5 for students, and children 12 years and under are free. Tickets will be available at the door the evening of the concert at 6 p.m.. This is an all ages show so bring your family and friends! We look forward to sharing our fun music with you!

This concert will feature new compositions by noted Alaska composers John Damberg and Mark Manners and rarely performed music of Brazilian & Afro Cuban Latin Jazz giants Hermeto Pascoal, Jovino Santos Neto, Chucho Valdez, Andy Narell, Djvan, & Ray Bryant.

The John Damberg Latin Jazz Ensemble strives to present fresh, new musical landscapes featuring the unique blend of marimba, steel drum, & vibes, with the clarinet & flute,  & the classical guitar jamming over World Beat rhythmic grooves provided by the energetic rhythm section composed of Latin percussion, drum set, and bass.

The ensemble’s mission is to create new Latin Jazz compositions and re-discover the music of the Latin Jazz Icons of the Caribbean, Central, and South America in performances throughout Alaska and beyond.
